Govava began in 2012 when our founder, Carl Richards, experienced the all-too-familiar stress of last-minute gift shopping. After spending hours browsing online stores and still feeling uncertain about his choices, he wondered: “Why isn’t there a better way to find meaningful gifts?”

With a background in Technology and programming  Carl assembled a team of AI experts, content creators, and retail specialists to build a solution. The vision was simple but ambitious: create an AI-powered platform that could understand the nuances of human relationships and preferences to recommend truly thoughtful gifts.

What started as a simple recommendation engine has grown into a comprehensive gift discovery platform. Our AI analyzes thousands of products across hundreds of categories, considering factors like recipient interests, occasion significance, relationship dynamics, and current trends.

The Govava Blog was launched in 2025 to complement our AI tool with expert insights, gift guides, and thoughtful perspectives on the art of giving. We believe that technology works best when it enhances human connection, not replaces it.
